Hi, just want to share some informations regarding with the USM's interview for medical course which I've had undergone few months back, which is in the year of 2016. So, basically the things you need to do is DO YOUR HOMEWORK! What do I mean by this?
Homework here is referring to your duty to study the background of USM, study about medical situations, achievements, prepare your attire and compile your file neatly before the interview day.
BACKGROUND OF USM:
You don't have to memorised all the details and facts. To me, it's important for you to understand instead of memorising all the details blindly. But still, it's up to you whether you want to memorise it or not bcoz maybe by memorising you'll feel less nervous and gain confidence. The background of USM was asked only once during my year. They asked 'what do you understand about the curriculum system in USM'. It is compulsory for you to answer this question in English!
MEDICAL SITUATIONS:
The second thing you need to do is to find any possible medical situation's questions. You can just google them on the Internet. The medical situation's questions was asked three times during my year and you can answer them either in English or Malay (choose either one). You cannot mix both language (bahasa rojak) in one sentence or use both language in answering this questions. It's okay if you accidentally mix both language but try to avoid it. You can do it! So, here are the examples of the questions:
- Anda baru sahaja keluar dari pusat beli-belah dengan rakan anda. Tiba-tiba, seorang peragut meragut bag kawan anda dengan kasar sehingga menyebabkan rakan anda terjatuh dan kepalanya terhantuk di divider jalan. Rakan anda tidak sedarkan diri. Peragut itu pula hilang kawalan lalu terjatuh dari motosikalnya. Orang ramai yang menyaksikan kejadian tersebut pergi ke peragut tersebut lalu memijak dan memukulnya. Apakah tindakan anda.
- Ahmad merupakan kawan baik anda. Anda tahu bahawa Ahmad amat meminati bidang graphic design tetapi disebabkan ibu bapanya yang menaruh harapan yang tinggi agar Ahmad menjadi seorang doktor menyebabkan Ahmad tidak berani untuk memberitahu cita-citanya. Apakah tindakan anda? Anggapkan bahawa interviewer merupakan ayah Ahmad. (This question is tricky, you need to act and have conversations with the interviewer.)
- For this question, we were given an article about a mother knowing that her daughter wouldn't live long while her daughter knows that she couldn't be cured. What is the solutions and discuss everyone's feeling in this situation. (I don't really remember this question.. =.=)
ACHIEVEMENTS:
The question is like this:
Setiap orang mempunyai bakat tersendiri. Nyatakan dan terangkan bakat dan kemahiran anda. (Lebih kurang macam tu la soalannya, I barely remembered it.) So the point is, di sini, you kene tebal muka dan jual diri. Cakap je apa-apa achievement you from you kecil until today. Kat sinilah masanya you nak prove yang you ni betul-betul berbakat and layak masuk USM. They don't want to see your certificate to know who you are, they want to know who you are from what you speak about yourself!
ATTIRE:
Wear formal attire only!
Lelaki:
- Rambut pendek
- Kuku pendek
- Tie
- Kemeja
- Baju dalam
- Belt
- Seluar slack
- Coat
- Stokin
- Kasut bertutup
- Accessories lain- eg jam tangan
*Tie and kemeja make sure warna kontra.
*Baju dalam untuk elakkan kemeja basah if you guys berpeluh.
*Coat depends kalau rajin, tapi biasanya orang tak pakai sebab panas.
*Kasut kalau rajin kilatkan atau beruskan.
*No jeans.
Perempuan:
- Tudung
- Serkup
- Rambut kemas
- Baju kurung
- Kemeja
- Seluar slack
- Stokin
- Kasut bertutup
- Coat
- Skirt
- Kuku pendek
- Accessories lain- eg jam tangan
*Rambut panjang buat ponytail, ikat tocang atau lain-lain.
*Tak boleh pakai baju jarang and nipis.
*No jeans.
*Kasut kalau rajin kilatkan atau beruskan.
*Coat depends tapi orang selalu tak pakai sebab panas.
*Skirt wajib bawah lutut.
*Accessories jangan berlebihan.
*Wear make up sikit sebab interviewer tak suka muka yang gloomy, yang ada bibir pecah, lesu, tak bermaya, Tunjukkan pada mereka your healthy and happy face. :)
So, the summary of the interview session gonna be like this:
- There are 5 stations and 4 resting point.
- You can choose either to answer or rest first. But remember that you can only rest 4 times!
- You must go through all the stations once only.
- Each station has one interviewer.
- The interview was held in empty ward.
- You need to read the question outside the interviewer room for one minute only.
- After one minute, there is a siren as a sign for you to enter the interviewer room.
- Don't forget to knock and give salam before enter.
- Smile immediately after entering the room.
- No need to introduce yourself. Just answer the question in front of the interviewer for 5 minutes.
- Make eye contact and smile as you speak.
- What the interviewers want from you is your capability to talk for 5 minutes, your ideas, your personality, how you solve problem given.
- The thing is tak perlu fikir pasal 5 minutes tu, nanti buat you stress je, cakap je apa yang ada dalam minda you.
- You don't need to bring certificates with you when entering, just leave them outside.
COMPILING FILES:
Just bring all the original documents and the required documents. Photostat and sahkan if required.
